In the city of Nanjing, China, a seminar on technology
transfer for addressing climate change in developing countries was held. A
representative of the Kurdistan Students Association was officially invited and
participated in the seminar as one of the representatives of the Kurdistan
Region.
The "Seminar on Technology Transfer for Addressing
Climate Change" took place in Nanjing, China, lasting 12 days. Herêm
Isma'îl, the head of relations for the Kurdistan Students Association,
participated as one of the representatives from the Kurdistan Region.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Regional
Training Centre in Nanjing, in cooperation with the Nanjing University of
Information Science & Technology (NUIST) and sponsored by the Ministry of
Commerce of the People's Republic of China, organized the seminar.
Representatives from countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin
America participated.
The purpose of the seminar in China was to support countries
in their adaptation to climate change, in addition to transitioning to clean
energy through technology transfer and international cooperation.
The seminar in Nanjing, China, covered several main topics,
including:
The
science of climate change and China's environmental governance strategies.
Management
of extreme climate risks.
Clean
energy technologies such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and small hydropower.
Solid
waste management systems and energy monitoring.
A
visit to the city of Hangzhou for participants to observe real-world green
energy and global hydropower projects.
Cultural
activities designed to promote international understanding and friendship.
During the seminar, Herêm Isma'îl Mohammed presented a topic
where he introduced the Kurdistan Students Association, its mission, and its
evolving role in facing climate challenges and promoting sustainability in
higher education, making it one of the important themes he explained to the
participants and representatives of those countries.
Furthermore, he elaborated on the mission of the Kurdistan
Students Association at the seminar, stating that they work to confront the
challenges and obstacles facing students in the Kurdistan Region, especially in
accessing climate-related technology.
After the seminar, the representative of the Students
Association noted that "the experience of participating in Nanjing, China,
and the hospitality received, allows for professional work on this topic, as it
leaves a more significant and lasting impact on future progress."
The Kurdistan Students Association also expressed its
readiness to develop long-term cooperation with Chinese academic and
environmental institutions in the fields of (student exchange programs and
joint training, climate education and youth engagement, green innovation, and
clean energy technology transfer).
After the conclusion of the "Seminar on Technology
Transfer for Addressing Climate Change," the representative of the
Kurdistan Students Association presented an award of appreciation to (Professor
Wang Shuchun), the President of Nanjing University and Executive Director of
the WMO Regional Training Centre in Nanjing.
