The Kurdistan Students Association was established in 1976 during a historic and sensitive period for the Kurdish people by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to confront the Arabization policies and chauvinism of the Baath regime. Although during that era, establishing an opposition organization outside the system and against the regime was punishable by imprisonment and execution, the association played an important role in reviving the spirit of solidarity and struggle for the student class was revitalized to stand against the oppression and injustice of the
Baath regime and in pursuit of freedom and pride for Kurdistan, resulting in the sacrifice of many martyrs.
After the glorious uprising of the Kurdish people in 1991, the Kurdistan Students Association, with new ideas and different strategies, took responsibility for protecting and achieving students' rights and advancing education and scientific advancement. Since then, the association has been an important center for supporting and assisting thousands of students in various educational centers and developing skilled personnel who can now serve Kurdistan in various fields.
